Advocacy is NSGA’s legacy! After a 1927 fight over an unfair tax on sporting goods, sporting goods retailers united in 1929 and formed what has become NSGA.
Still fighting against unfair taxes, NSGA advocates on behalf of retailers and team dealers on matters affecting small businesses and the sporting goods industry.
NSGA’s broad advocacy efforts include grassroots campaigns with our members to meetings with elected officials on Capitol Hill. NSGA also participates in national coalitions spanning multiple industries to pursue legislation and public policies where interests are aligned, understanding that there is strength in numbers and that collaboration allows for NSGA’s voice to be amplified.
Rhett Johnson, President of Johnson-Lambe in Raleigh, North Carolina and former member of the NSGA Board of Directors, shares his perspective on the power of NSGA advocacy.
