ASICS Appoints Tominaga New President in Executive Changes

KOBE, JAPAN (September 15, 2023) – ASICS Corporation announced Mitsuyuki Tominaga will become its new President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective January 1, 2024.

ASICS also announced Motoi Oyama, its Chairman and Director, will retire March 22, 2024 and become the corporation’s Senior Advisor and Director. Current President, CEO and COO and Representative Director Yasuhito Hirota will become Chairman while relinquishing the President and COO responsibilities to Tominaga.

“These appointments are aimed at establishing a new management team that can further develop ASICS in the face of drastic changes in the business environment so that it can achieve its goal of ensuring a world in which each and every one of us can engage in exercise and sports throughout our lives and continue to live in good health, both mentally and physically,” Hirota said. “Since 2018, Mitsuyuki Tominaga has played a key role particularly in promoting the digitalization of ASICS. I truly trust that, as a new President and COO, he will contribute to increasing the corporate value of the ASICS Group.”

The 61-year-old Tominaga will also become a Director for ASICS. He is a 1987 Cal Poly graduate and he received his Masters’ in 1995 from Purdue. Tominaga also worked for Andersen Consulting, IBM and SAP Japan before joining Asics.

“As successor to President Hirota, I will do my best to provide a wider range of customers with the fruit of ASICS’ long-term passionate commitment to product development and creation,” Tominaga said. “To achieve this, I aim to bring about transformation whereby digital strategy will be placed at the center of our management and deeply incorporated into our global business, thereby empowering ASICS to achieve further growth in profitability.”
