CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA (July 24, 2024) – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced a contract renewal with Spalding® as the official basketball of the association. The four-year agreement will continue through April 2028.

Spalding® initially partnered with the NJCAA in 2013 as the Official Basketball of the association.

“Spalding is pleased to be a key strategic partner of the NJCAA,” said Brian Kelly, Spalding National Sales Director. “This extension and long-term partnership highlights our commitment to provide the best basketball equipment that allows NJCAA student-athletes to compete at the highest level. Being the official basketball partner of the NJCAA is an exciting opportunity for Spalding to continue to work with top-tier athletes and teams across the US. We look forward to many more years of supporting and assisting in the growth of the game.”

Member institutions from around the country will continue to utilize Spalding’s TF-1000 Legacy for all NJCAA region, district and national tournaments.

“The NJCAA has had a longstanding partnership with Spalding as the official basketball of the association,” said NJCAA President & CEO Dr. Christopher Parker. “This contract renewal is a testament to the quality product Spalding continues to provide as well as the relationship that has been established on both ends. The NJCAA is excited to continue growing with Spalding and providing student-athletes with a quality product that is being used at the highest levels.”

NJCAA Discontinues Women’s Lacrosse

The NJCAA discontinued women’s lacrosse as a sponsored sport after the recent cancelation of additional programs, beginning with the upcoming 2024-25 academic year.

“In light of recent cancelations and the lack of involvement in women’s lacrosse at the two-year level, this decision had to be made,” said Dr. Christopher Parker, NJCAA President & CEO. “It’s never easy to discontinue a sport especially when as an association we strive to provide opportunities at the two-year level across the board. However, we haven’t seen a great deal of participation in this particular sport and as a result did what we think is best. Women’s lacrosse will continue to grow at the collegiate level and one day we hope to be able to add it back as we’ve done with other sports in the past.”

Women’s lacrosse has been an NJCAA sponsored sport since 2004 with the championship recently being changed to an invitational in the 2022-23 academic year. This past year’s Women’s Lacrosse Invitational saw four teams compete for a chance at a national title.
