NCAA Proposes Women’s Volleyball Uniform, Apparel Rule Changes in 2020

Rules • January 10, 2020

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA (January 10, 2020) – The NCAA Women’s Volleyball Rules Committee recommended two rules proposals affecting uniforms and apparel for the 2020 season.

Teams would be assessed an administrative red card for uniform violations (numbers not contrasting with the color of the uniform) and having teams with uniform violations start the match down 1-0 in the first set.

Players would be allowed to wear shorts or leggings in the 2020 season, provided all teammates wear the same color.

Rule changes must be approved by the NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel, which is scheduled to discuss all women’s volleyball rules proposals Feb. 26.
