Corporate, HDA News • August 4, 2020

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO (August 4, 2020) – USA Hockey shared a video message from its president, Jim Smith, and executive director, Pat Kelleher, stating it will sanction hockey for the 2020-21 season. Through Dr. Michael Stuart of the Mayo Clinic, USA Hockey will have vast resources with the latest medical services available to help all its members. Dr. Stuart gave the green light to restart hockey and offered advice for rinks and members of USA Hockey to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Stuart has shared with USA Hockey that social distancing is not practical while playing the game but the risk of contracting COVID-19 is minimal. USA Hockey hopes a trip to the rink will be as safe as a trip to the grocery store. The physical, social and mental well-being that comes from the sport of hockey is important to hundreds of thousands of families across the country and it is great to see them taking advantage of this opportunity. USA Hockey plans to continue providing updates throughout the season and invites people to find these updates on its website at usahockey.com.
