CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA (July 24, 2023) – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) is onboarding 13 new member colleges to join the association beginning this academic year.
The new schools are Arkansas State University Three Rivers, Reid State Technical College, Gillette College, Pacific Northwest Christian College, Mayland Community College, Montcalm Community College, Pellissippi State Community College, Southeast Arkansas College, Southside Virginia Community College, Texas Southmost College, Western Iowa Tech Community College, Grays Harbor College and Arkansas State University Newport.
The NJCAA welcomes Arkansas State University Three Rivers, Southeast Arkansas College and Arkansas State University-Newport to Region 2. Arkansas State University Three Rivers will offer men’s and women’s golf, baseball and soccer at the Division II level. Southeast Arkansas College will compete in baseball and softball and will be playing D-II. Arkansas State University-Newport will offer D-II men’s basketball and softball.
Out of Region 22, Reid State Technical College will compete at the D-II level in men’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf and men’s and women’s cross country.
Gillette College has returned to the college athletics realm and will compete in NJCAA Region 9 in men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s and women’s basketball in Division I.
Pacific Northwest Christian College will be competing in NJCAA Region 18 at the D-I level in men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s soccer. The NJCAA will also welcome Grays Harbor College to this region as it will compete in women’s wrestling.
Mayland Community College will compete in NJCAA Region 10 at the D-II level and will add men’s and women’s cross country and men’s and women’s golf. Also joining the region is Southside Virginia Community College in men’s basketball and softball at the D-III level.
With 12 sports offerings of baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s bowling, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, and women’s volleyball, Montcalm Community College will compete as a D-II school in NJCAA Region 12.
Pellissippi State Community College will compete in NJCAA Region 7 and it will offer D-I women’s soccer and D-II men’s and women’s cross country and half marathon, men’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and men’s golf.
After moving to NAIA in 2006, Texas Southmost College returned to a two-year institution in 2013. Now joining the NJCAA, Texas Southmost will be competing in NJCAA Region 14 with men’s and women’s D-I soccer at the Division I level.
Western Iowa Tech Community College will compete in NJCAA Region 11 in D-II men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s basketball and competitive cheer.
Gillette College is the only school eligible to play in the 2023-24 postseason. The other 12 new members will be eligible for the 2024-25 postseason.
